Ahhh...Sweet Nostalgia
So...I've been on a music downloading kick and guess what I found? I found several tracks from one of Cheryl Ladd's two records.

Now, if you know who Cheryl Ladd is and you didn't know that she had released two albums back in the late 70's, you are probably looking at your screen as if it had a dancing purple iguana upon it. But rest assured, oh you of the age who remembers when the Charlie's Angels did NOT have Cameron Diaz dancing in her underwear, Cheryl can sing. Or rather, did sing. Well enough to have two albums, which I used to own when I was eight.

Yes, I owned the albums. And I used to play the hell out of them. I would sit in the rocking chair by one of the speakers and I would put my head right up to it and I would listen for every note, every sound...

Now, I also owned the one Lynda Carter (of Wonder Woman fame) album as well, but that one was on 8-track tape and I am really too embarrassed to talk about that fact.

But oh, yes, dear readers, when I found the tracks from Cheryl Ladd's albums and heard them for the first time in too many years to count, I teared up. My eyes went all blurry and misty and it was all I could do not to cry.

I am that much of a geek.

Some of you with more capitalist leanings might be asking "Hey, those albums might have some collector value on eBay, why don't you sell them?" And the answer is, dear readers:

BECAUSE MY MOTHER SOLD THEM FOR 25 CENTS A PIECE IN A GARAGE SALE WHEN I WAS IN COLLEGE

Needless to say, I was horrified. She also sold a bunch of my other albums and an original, two-LP set of Jesus Christ Superstar with the ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST.

I feel faint just thinking about it.

The JCS set was marked $.50 but the guy who bought it gave my mother a dollar because he felt bad for RIPPING HER OFF.

Maybe I should lie down for a minute...

Anyway, miraculously, my mother did not sell my two Doctor Who imports, a picture disc of sound effects with the Tardis on one side and a painting of the five (at the time) Doctors on the other, and a two-LP set of one of the episodes, probably a Sarah Jane Smith episode because I was truly planning on becoming Elisabeth Sladen's personal slave at the time and she was my favorite of the companions...

...and I am showing my true, bone-deep geekdom again...

Nostalgia...sentimentality...

I download some songs just because I want to have every version available... For instance, I am in the process of collecting every version of Jolene, by Dolly Parton. And Amazing Grace. And Leaving on a Jet Plane.

Okay, I have an illness.

But you know what? It makes me that much more lovable. ;)

And for those of you in doubt of that declaration, just go with it. It is easier in the end.

Gotta go. I have about five unfinished Casey/Olivia stories I need to work on, so I am going to go do that before I have to babysit my niece.

Yes, my brother leaves me alone with his daughter. LOL. After all, I caught the "geek" bug from him. LOL

Twoodles.

didn't know about the cheryl ladd albums...

but then i was a kelly/jacklyn fan :)

i do however have many osmond and partridge family records...

and leif garret. and sean cassidy. :D

my first female singer/band favorite was and is heart. my mom made sure i was aware of people like janis ian, peter, paul and mary and joan baez -- if they were folk singers, i probably heard them as a child. buffy st. marie. :) or if they were blues singers... nina simone, billy holiday... my dad was a jazz musician. lots of interesting, eclectic stuff.

besides playing jazz, he taught the trumpet. let me tell you... there's nothing quite like a day of listening to the jeopardy them murdered for 8 hours straight...

casey stories... mmhmm... yes yes work work :)

but don't forget to cuddle your niece :)

oh and did you get chantal kreviazuk's version of leaving on a jet plane? hers is the best, i think...

I gotta tell ya, I am so glad that I am not the only person who's a bit older than everyone else on here. Can I consider twice as old a bit? When I started to realize the age of some of these pups I worried that I was corrupting minors!

I know. I think the first person I friended on LJ was 18 and I almost passed out when I discovered that. I'm 35 and I feel the same way as you: as if sometimes I am corrupting minors. LOL
