I Suppose It's Time For Me To Make A Statement
Well, the time has apparently come...and I just have to say that SVU doesn't deserve Diane Neal anymore. I'm glad she's leaving. She's too good for the crap they've been churning out anyway and the world is hungry to see what Diane will do next. She once said that when she tired of acting, she'd go to medical school... Perhaps she's not ready for that yet, but even if she is, the world will be richer by one amazingly compassionate and outstanding doctor even if it is poorer by one amazingly passionate and talented actress.

Personally, I hope she continues in the entertainment world for a little while longer. If only so I can follow her to some wildly successful comedy vehicle while the rest of the world makes due with ridiculous SVU episodes where either Olivia or Elliot breaks more laws than the perps they are trying to apprehend.

Adam Beach is also apparently leaving and my beautiful gf posits that he made this decision in support of Diane. We will probably never know but it's a nice daydream. As long as they don't have the two of them running away together--or rather, Casey and Chester--on May 8th, I'll be satisfied. Oh, and no killing Casey off either, Dickie Boy! I saw what you did to Borgia. No way my TV wife is checking out that way!

I will watch Casey's last episode and I will probably comment here about it, too. I'm not sure I will be able to restrain myself. Consider yourselves warned.

In other news, I am slowly getting into some sort of routine regarding school/work/living with Tiff and you can expect more posts from me soon. Particularly things of a fictional nature--meaning those "drabbles" and stories and such that I've been neglecting. I am really feeling the whole "not writing fiction" thing rather severely, especially when I've written two academic papers in the last two months--one on lesbian visibility in health care and one on chondrosarcoma (don't ask).

After two such interesting topics (facetiousness level at 50%), I truly need to write something more lyrical and less...cited. O_O

As for schooling, I will be only taking one class this summer: Anatomy & Physiology II and its required Lab. The class, I'm not worried about. Ten weeks, M and W evenings, of interesting information. It's the lab that is going to kill me. Ten weeks, M and W evenings, of cat dissection. All cat dissection, all the time. On the same cat. UGH. Barbaric, unnecessary, and extremely...formaldehydic. Yes, I know that is not a real word. You'll have to excuse me. There really isn't another word that fits.

After I pass A&P II, I will probably go on a waiting list for nursing school. I'll get my other high level reqs out of the way (Microbiology and Abnormal Psych) if I have to wait very long. I hope its not more than a semester or two, but we'll see.

Tiff and I are growing herbs on the patio, going to the Farmer's Market, grocery shopping, and generally being insufferably domestic with our weekly meal plans and cooking and chores... It's all rather nauseating and I'll spare you more descriptions. Suffice it to say we're very happy and settling in nicely, thank you very much.

Work is...work. I've been so busy, I hardly remember what day it is when I'm there. The good thing? I've been there two years now (as of 4/10) and am due another raise by July. Hopefully it will be at least 5% but I don't hold out much hope of that. That's the max and nobody ever likes to give out the max. But with gas here going for $3.43 a gallon (as of today), I sure could use it.

Well, that's it for now. I promise that I'll be back more regularly. And for those of you that swear I have forgotten your "drabbles", I truly have not. I will get them done.

Love to all!

That's unconfirmed. Someone claimed Diane gathered the crew together and emotionally told them she'd been fired but when Ausiello spoke to her directly, she only admitted to talking to the crew about her imminent departure. She did not admit to being fired but was apparently "cagey" about it or some such.

I'm just glad she's finally abandoning ship.

The ship has had a slow leak since Olivia saved New York from Anthrax. Think of SVU as the Titanic and that episode--what was it called? "Storm"? How appropriate...--as the iceberg. Except it was a tiny iceberg. Just big enough to poke a hole. Still...it was enough to sink the entire show. It's just taking years.

I haven't watched it in at least two years either.

Wait...what?? That was a real storyline? No wonder I stopped watching after Season 7...

Yep, it was. It was a horrible, horrible episode. But still...not as bad as "Fat".

*sticks her fingers in her ears and hums*

I am not accepting this! I refuse!

Seriously, though, if they kill her? I will be PISSED. Can't they just switch her to a different department? Or maybe get her promoted out or something?

*sigh* *sniffle* Not since Prue Halliwell have I been this upset over the removal of a character from one of my shows.

As I said. Not accepting. :P

Oh, and I've written a sequel to "The Heart of the Matter". Eight of 11 chapters are up. ;)

Yay! A Sequel! I love sequels!

And yes, I am not happy about the possibilities for a Casey exit. I'm only hoping that it is an exit that will go with a particular story I've been wanting to write... /cryptic

I will have to go read your sequel, dear! Yay!

I'm not surprised, but I'm still rather sad that she's leaving. She's the only thing that made the show bearable at this point. I keep watching because I don't want to abandon my site, but I can honestly say that I no longer enjoy watching SVU every week.

As for you winning at life right now... keep doing it. :)
seftiri: Casey Softballseftiri on April 20th, 2008 03:57 pm (UTC)
Yeah. I've only seen parts of eps here and there over the last two years and some of them have made me cringe with disbelief. Or laugh with the ridiculousness of it all. It's a sad little state of affairs for them.

And thanks...I'll try. :)

Yes, I am hoping for a nice exit for Casey too. None of that "dropping a bridge on her" crap...

1) I will catch Casey's farewell episode (though probably not the night it airs), even though I abandoned SVU eons ago and had exactly no intention of ever going back. But if they kill her Borgia-style (or, for that matter, Claire-style), there will be... I would like to say "blood" because I've taken to throwing that into my sentences ever since I heard about the movie, but I'm going to go with "There will be incoherent ranting on my part".

2) I, too, will be taking at least one course this summer. It looks like it's going to be World History, because if I want to do an AP course next year (and realistically speaking, I have to), damn it, it will be that. And if I don't finish off Earth-Space Science by summer, well... there will be that, too. Yay, crazy workload.

3) Keep the insufferable domesticity up. It's better than a lot of the alternatives. ;)

"There will be incoherent ranting on my part".

On mine, too.

2) Oh for an interesting topic like World History!

3) Yes it is.

World History is great. It's all part of my evil scheme to maybe study archaeology. Of course there are like, five schools in this country that actually have classical archaeology studies, so that may not pan out. *fingers crossed* Of course, I'm going to have to study Chemistry sometime in the immediate future, too. Also, Anatomy & Physiology doesn't sound too bad. Not that I would know, but still.

...And I don't have a Casey icon to use. Damn.
Lisarockcliffchic81 on April 19th, 2008 04:24 am (UTC)
Fired or own free will, leaving and moving on is the best thing for her. Other than this latest ep I can not tell you the last time I sat through an entire episode of SVU, with the exception of my recent marathon of past *better* seasons.

As for Adam's leaving, I'm kinda sad about it if only because as a fellow Manitoban I was excited to hear he'd be on a show I actually already watched. And he's a good actor.

School is kicking my butt!
seftiri: iconsubpoenaedbynovakseftiri on April 20th, 2008 04:06 pm (UTC)
It is for the best for her, I agree. I'm sorry I didn't get to see more of Adam's character, but I left long before he arrived. He sounded like he was completely underused...

Yes, I am aware. LOL :)

Well, this is probably the right time. SVU has brought Diane well-deserved fame, but it's circling the drain, so if she jumps ship now hopefully the damage will be kept to a minimum.

That being said, let's hope she hasn't pissed anybody off, so Casey will be allowed to make a graceful exit and not get McLeaned.
seftiri: Don't Evenseftiri on April 20th, 2008 04:11 pm (UTC)
Yes, Casey getting McLeaned would piss me off. So very much.

Also bothering me? The ubiquitous contingent of Alex Cabot fans clamoring for the return of Stephanie March. Which--thank god--is not going to happen.
tulliolus: flatirontulliolus on April 20th, 2008 07:45 pm (UTC)
Since I am actually in the Limer Lounge, I won't blaspheme by saying I wouldn't object to Alex coming back, except insofar as it would make the ass-pull surrounding her return to the Manhattan DA's office complete ('Colombian drug runners unanimously find Jesus! Film at 11!'), and it would make all the Casey-haters completely insufferable (not that I hang around with them.)

The other reason I wouldn't say that is it turned out to be a very long, rambling and poorly-structured sentence.
froggumz: Casey Daydreamsfroggumz on April 30th, 2008 05:07 pm (UTC)
I have to say that I totally agree with you. I love Neal & have been watching the show again just to see a bit of Casey, but it's nice knowing that my Tuesday nights will be free of poor writing & "OMGWTFBBQ LIV!" drama. Seriously, how many times can one cop be taken hostage before people start to consider them a dumb ass vs. a hero?

Good to hear that domestic bliss is treating you both well :)
