Did Someone...Well...Drop The Ball?
I've been wondering this for a few weeks now. I'm sure many of you are familiar with that guy, Dyson, who is making all those colorful and expensive vacuum cleaners and things, right?

Well, his newest creation is called The Dyson Ball, seen here...

http://www.dyson.co.uk/store/productmodel.asp?model=DC25

Did Mr. Dyson and his company lose out on the geek factor by not naming the vacuum "The Dyson Sphere"?

I know I'd be more likely to buy it if it were called that...

And another thing!

The other day at work, I was getting the mail for one of the women I support and she's a Nurse Midwife, so she gets a lot of medical equipment catalogs. There was one in her mailbox and on the cover it had pictures of speculums... Titanium speculums... In rainbow colors... O_o

I didn't even know that there were problems you could have with the plain ol' surgical steel ones such that one might muse "Damn! I wish I had a titanium speculum for this patient instead of this steel one... Maybe they could make it in purple, too!"

Yeah.

So anyway, last night while watching "The Funny Show" (i.e. CSI:Miami), I got to wondering if Alexx gets catalogs like that too...

"Buy the DeepFreeze 3000! Keep your cadavers colder for longer! Also available in plus sizes for clients weighing over 450lbs."

"New! Tie-dye Toe Tags! In four pleasing color combinations! Let their last ID stand out!"

"Having trouble with dull saws and bone crackers? Our new line of anodized titanium saws and snips might just be for you! Guaranteed to stay sharper for longer! Available in standard silver, Macabre black, Ruby red, and Bile green. Customize with your office's shield or logo for that personal touch!"

"Are your body bags boring? Tired of the same old charcoal gray? Fashion Fits are for you! The same sturdy body bags you are accustomed to but now in fashionable colors and prints! Choose from 7 hot colors and 4 prints, including Tartan and Paisley!"

Hmmm...

I think I was up too late last night...

;)

Twoodles!

Okay, the whole speculum-derived part of this had me and shatterpath in hysterics! Now I want a story of Alexx getting something like this....

I'm glad you enjoyed it! As for writing, that's sorta on hold for the moment. I have so many projects I need to be working on but oi, I am so not there right now.

Still, glad to have made you laugh!

re: many writing projects... Tell me about it! I'm already 12+ days behind on my Lusty Month of May 2008 project... I'm working on updating and catching up, but it's hard...

Reminds me of the pilot of Six Feet Under where they actually had a series of mortician-inspired adverts.

Ok, I want a medi-bracelet that instead of saying i'm allergic to penicilin, says when I die I insist on having a Tartan body bag...

I don't know: if I saw a product on sale called the 'Dyson Sphere' I'd probably think "Now where am I going to find room for that!"

Speaking of titanium speculums (specula?) (not to mention the geek factor), I feel obliged to state for the record that the ease and impressiveness of the anodization of titanium is officially way cool.

That is way cool! Thanks for sharing!

As for the "Where would I put that?" aspect of the Dyson Sphere, I totally did not even think in those terms. It would be a definite issue with the real Dyson Sphere... LOL
