THANK YOU, PORTLAND, OREGON!
To my reader in Portland, Oregon: you were my 60,000th visitor since I've been tracking visits! Thank you so much!

To everyone: I am hoping to get HBM 32 out to the betas tonight. I will also post some more of the novel in sugared_limes sometime this weekend. I did not make the 50,000 words but I now have a clearer idea of the way the book(s) should go.

Thanks!

What happened here? This was a riveting story. I'm sorry to see it abandoned.

What happened? CC happened. Or, to be perfectly honest, my inability to continue admiring CC happened.

It was the drunk tweets that bothered me the most. She's an adult, she can do what she wants, yada yada. But she has kids who will have to grow up with their mother's drunk tweets--complete with pics--available via wayback machine or cloud archive or whatever the hell else they'll come up with by then to make certain that no one's mistakes can ever truly be erased. And those kids may have to begin defending their mother's honor earlier than they should have had to, ending up adding stress and angst to their lives for no good reason.

Perhaps I'm being a little righteous about this, but knowing her kids are under ten and knowing what it's like to grow up way too fast and spend one's childhood in a constant state of fight or flight, I lost respect for CC.

This is why I should never have broken my cardinal rule of fanfic writing: don't read or listen to interviews about the actors and don't ever follow the actors on Twitter until the story's done. Their shenanigans/unpopular politics/homophobia/other unsavory or unsettling trait might ruin the character for you.

After all, not everyone can be Jeri Ryan.

tsk. I understand. Try not to break the rule again. Please.
