Yeah, It needs to be discussed
Okay, so most of you know that I am recovering from surgery. Well, until yesterday, I was a member of a Yahoo group that was a support group for people with my disease/procedure.

J-Pouch Support Group is its name.

Well, "Bob", a 44 year old male member of a tribe of asshats wrote this clever little anecdote the other morning:

"I emailed my old GI doc (he is the only one I have an email
address for) and asked is it normal for stuff to stay in your system
almost 4 days after eating. It just seems wrong, especially without a colon.

As for the runs, I have had them for the last 5 years. In a
way I am kinda glad I don't have a full stool, I'd have to double up
on the kegels ha ha.

(that reminded me of when I was going in for the surgery, I was
talking to one of the nurses in the room about being glad I'm
not homosexual becuase I've got to keep things tight back
there. What I didn't realize and was told later that one of the male nurses
that was in the room was one of "them") I tried to make myself
feel bad about making the comment, but I couldn't. I am glad! I
realized that wether politically correct or not, homosexuality is wrong,
and I should never beat my self up over any negative comment about

As Christians, we are told that we should forgive sins. I
agree, but if people are not ashamed or sorry for their sins, we DON'T
have to, and shouldnt forgive them. I think that is where we as a
nation have messed up. We keep forgiving people who don't care, and
that becomes condoning of sin. We allow it to run rampant in our
society, and then complain about how worse things are.

You see, the problem is that communications is instatanious,
whatever is said can not be taken back. Of everything that we
see on TV and the magazines and listen to on the radio, how much
wrong information (wrong information = unGodly information) do we

It has become so intrusive it drives me nuts. It is getting
to the point where can't watch TV anymore, too much imorality is
glorified. Bad people become glorified and good people are vilified.

Wow, another rant, man am I full of it.

Caring deeply about the world"

Now, this group has never had a post like this in the many months that I have been a member. Most of the time we discuss such rousing topics as whether or not tomato skins bother our digestive systems or the best creams to relieve pain. It isn't the most pleasant of discussion groups, topic-wise, but it is very informative and has helped me cope with the loss of my colon and the subsequent lifestyle changes I have had to make.

Needless to say, as a known member of this group and an out lesbian, I was angered by Bob's asshat opinions. But he is entitled to them, just as I am entitled to the opinion that he is an unwashed, undereducated product of inbreeding. However, I was ENRAGED by the fact that he chose to post his asinine opinions on a HEALTH SUPPORT forum.

So I responded. As any red-blooded lesbian raised by life-long Democrats would.

God brought me here to discuss my ordeal with UC, the removal of my colon, and my J-Pouch creation. God has been very good to me, by giving me a loving, devoted family, supportive friends, and God has helped me survive not one but two dangerous surgeries during which I lost so much blood that they feared I would not make it.

God has done all of this despite the fact that I am a lesbian.

You are entitled to your opinions on homosexuality but THEY DO NOT BELONG ON THIS BOARD.

Take your religious dogma somewhere else.

I come to this board for comfort, for understanding, for information, and for cammeraderie. I do not come here to be told that I am "wrong" by virtue of something that God made me. I did not choose to be gay, I was born this way. The same way that you were born heterosexual. Being gay is not wrong or bad or immoral. It is just different.

So I would appreciate it very much if you were to keep your opinions of homosexuality off this board.

Thank you very much,

Needless to say, Bob, the King of Asshats, did not take kindly to my response. He responded with this lovely email:

"I am sorry I brought up the issue, but since it is there.

GOD DID NOT MAKE YOU GAY.!!!!! Don't tell yourself that, it is a
lie. You made the choices. So what if you are more comfortable
with a person of the same sex. That does not mean you are a
lesbian. you made that choice to sleep with women, NOT GOD. The
Bible (Gods word) says it is wrong. The Bible does not change with
the times, and it should not. God's word does not change just
because people say it does.

Homosexuality is wrong, and Satan does not want you to know that.

my last post on the subject."

Clearly I was dealing with a mental giant. I would have been able to ignore "Bob" had not the group owner, "Ernie", agreed with him, telling him that "some of my best friends are gay and they have big hearts and are the kindest of people. However, I pray for them everyday. They cannot change on their own, but with God's help they can."

After that--and despite the presence of 589 other members of this group who all seemed like compassionate people to me--I chose to leave the group and start my own.

I posted one last time before I left.

Obviously discussing this issue with you is pointless.

You do not know the mind of God nor do you know anything about me.

I am a lesbian. I am proud to be a lesbian. I did not choose to be a
lesbian any more than you chose to be straight. Being a lesbian is my
natural, God-given state of being and I refuse to be told otherwise,
particularly by the likes of you.

The Bible passages that you refer to were superceded by the New
Testament, wherein Jesus says there are only two laws: to love God
above all others and to love one another as He has loved you. That's

And yes, the Bible has changed over the years, commonly through
translation errors and other such literary issues, but also through
royal decree. The King James bible was commissioned by King James for
specific socio-political reasons. The Catholic Church included books
of the bible that other religions choose not to. Early bishops
decided which books to keep and which to surpress.

The Bible is a changing document and has been since the first book was
written. The New Testament was written more than 200 years after
Jesus lived.

But it doesn't matter what I write here, because your ignorance limits
what you will allow yourself to believe.

Homosexuality is not wrong. I refuse to be subjected to your
ignorance and your abuse simply because you choose to believe rhetoric
spouted by people who think that Christianity is an exclusionary club
rather than the inclusive, welcoming, and open religion that Jesus
intended it to be.

My advice to you is to re-read your New Testament while also indulging
in some basic history research regarding the political/religious
heirarchy of that time. You will find it enlightening.

I did not wait for his response. I simply opted out of that group and started my own.

Of the 589 other members of this group, only one wrote to express how sorry she was that I was made to feel uncomfortable and that she wished me well in all of my health and other concerns.

There is a special room in Heaven for her.

So--all in all--these are the things I learned from this experience:

1. Asshats that type should be monitored. Or smacked with a ruler until they stop.

2. Expecting asshats to understand the Bible/their own religion/the English language/the concept of rudeness is expecting too much.

3. Coming close to death does not improve everyone's personality.

4. 1 out of every 589 people who witness an exchange like this will contact the lesbian with kind words.

5. Support groups for colon-loss are not immune to their share of asshats. Which, I guess, is to be expected, considering the actual distance from shit to asshole for these asshats has been shortened considerably.

Now that I have purged this little bit of grrrrrrrrrr, I am going to go take some headache meds and try to get to sleep finally.

Segue with me, won't you? INSOMNIA SUCKS

And dearest anonymous Kevin, would you be the same Kevin from NZ who holds such an important position on VJB? ;)

Re: Who am I
Could there be another, dearest VJB1? BTW I thought your responses to Bob the asshat were priceless, and as expected very well written ~_~. As a reward here is a link to the funniest anti-Fundementalist Christian (is "Fundementalist Christian" an oxymoron BTW, given they follow the Old Testament instead of the New?)site on the web, www.landoverbaptist.com, It also may be the scariest.

PS Hope you are starting to feel better

Re: Who am I
