Here's to stupidity in it's most common form: me.

Earlier, I sent an email to my father, telling him some minor thing and then I remembered that I hadn't talked to him about the Lily Tomlin concert thing yet. But instead of writing it out all over again, I sent him a link to the blog entry.

You know.

The one that includes this paragraph?

On the other hand, that curvaceous morsel who was your date had it exactly right. Strappy black tunic over taupe gauze slacks with a flared leg and nice heels. Not to mention that long red hair pulled back with that decorative clip and those faux diamond dangling earrings. SEXY. She was totally lickable.

I forgot about that paragraph.

And I sent my father straight right to it!

It's almost as bad as the time...well, I'll just tell you the story.

I was over at my parents' house for dinner one evening and we were watching TV afterward. This was about 9 years ago or so. I was laying on the floor and they were sitting behind me on the couch. For some reason, we were watching a talk show where a woman was explaining how great her sex life was. How she was having four orgasms a night.

Already embarrassing enough, right?

But no. Erin makes it worse.

"Just four??" I ask, incredulously. "Is that ALL??"

::extremely long, extremely silent pause::

::Erin slowly realizes where she is::

"Uh...did I just say that out loud?"

"Yes," says my father, his voice absolutely devoid of inflection. "Yes, you did."

Can't I think these things through before I do them??

*snort* ROLFOLOLOLOLOL too funny, erin :)

however... in this case, i think what you have is a situation whereby your father now knows that you find women attractive. somehow, i doubt this is news. ;)

on the other hand, if you really want to scare yourself... what if he starts to read through your old posts and sees some of the lovely fic posted therein? ;)

I am really hoping that he will file this place under "Things I Really Don't Need or Want to Know" and forget it ever existed.

Ok, I admit that I would never utter the word "lickable" near my father, but he didn't know you were gay? How did you manage to go that long and not tell him?

And I've done that too, actually. Before I left for California, I told my dad he could read my LJ to keep up with what was going on in classes and rehearsals because I'd be a bit to busy to remember to tell my parents everything (also, when I was put on vocal rest for 4 days, he could find out what was going on since I couldn't talk). Yeah. While I was there, I forgot about that when I was making posts that said things like
I ran into Skye again today. The woman swaggers, and it's so fucking sexy.
-talking about how distracting rehearsals with Sara were (she's hot),
-talking about a cute girl I met at Pride, and
-massive flirt-fests with canna500. I went back and flocked EVERYTHING that dealt with gayness or was cussing.

Oh, no! He knows I'm gay. LOL I've been out for 13 years now. It was just the "lickable" part that I was lamenting.

My family is not much into the "share all the thoughts you have" dynamic. My father is of Dutch heritage and that makes for a very stoic, very taciturn behavioural pattern. I would have NO problem with my Mother reading that paragraph. She's Irish. She would have hoooooted with laughter.

My father, on the other hand, just.doesn't.want.to.know. LOL

You're like me then. I can't believe I let my father read an entry that said that Skye was "so fucking sexy".
