Well, I was thinking last night, "Perhaps if you sleep on it, DiNovia, the episode will no longer make you homicidal."
Wishful.Thinking.
Summary of episode: A convicted rapist is released from prison after serving 21 years. He happens to be present at the Port Authority when a young girl (who is reminicent of his past victims) is raped. The detective who originally handled the parolee's case offers him up as the perp. Elliot Stabler then spends the next 40 minutes figuratively jacking off because he is a self-absorbed masochist bent on vengeance.
DiNovia's commentary:
There is a reason, dear Fellow Limers, that our favorite ADA was not in this episode. Had anyone consulted an attorney at all, this entire episode would have been scrapped. In fact, if Casey had been in this episode, it is my contention that SHE would have shot Elliot for being so damned stupid.
From the moment Elliot Stabler convinced the parole officer to allow him into the group therapy session under the guise of a fellow ex-con, Elliot Stabler was violating Ray Schenkel's civil rights.
From the moment he and the NYPD provided Ray Schenkel with a van, Elliot Stabler was participating in entrapment.
From the moment Ray Schenkel was no longer armed and Elliot continuted to strangle him until he lost consciousness, Elliot Stabler was guilty of police brutality and attempted FUCKING MURDER.
If it was the intention of the NYPD to stop Ray Schenkel from ever raping again, they failed miserably.
FAILED, people!
He now has a life-long pass to rape as many teenaged girls as he wants because all he has to do is pull the entrapment/civil rights violation/police brutality card at trial and he has REASONABLE DOUBT.
Elliot Stabler should be put on immediate suspension without pay pending a Rat Squad investigation (including an investigation into attempted murder), Cragen should be censured for allowing this to continue even though he KNEW it was a violation of Schenkel's civil rights, and the parents of the little girl that Schenkel abducted at the end of the episode should sue the NYPD and the city.
So ends my episodic content rant.
Other commentary:
::WEEP:: No Casey/Diane!!!
This is an episode? Are we sure it isn't an hour long ad for Meloni's biceps and scenery chewing?
Olivia. Cut your hair. And ditch the lipstick, bitch. You look like a frumpy, aging whore.
Funny. Didn't Cragen have a spinal column last season? Not to mention, testicles?
Huang, you are my hero. Thank you, thank you, thank you for providing the ONLY bright moment in this dismal waste of an hour.
Fin was in this episode? Are you sure?
Didn't this show used to have something to do with criminal investigations and the system of jurisprudence? I could have sworn...
::SQUEEE:: Tamara Tunie is in the CREDITS! Finally!!
DiNovia's Rating for "Demons":
(Limes would be good, Lemons are bad.)
The writers are obviously crack smokin' monkeys and need to be sent to Betty Ford.
There are sharks gathering in the East River and blood is in the water. Can L&O:SVU avoid Jumping the Shark this season? I guess we'll see.
Twoodles.
