I can rarely pass these up...
Nicked from snuffnyc

1. Name someone with the same birthday as you.

My best friend's older brother.
S. Epatha Merkerson
Scarlett Pomers
Manolo Blahnik
and yes,
Jon Stewart

2. Where was your first kiss?

In my bedroom, just prior to my "first time". I was 25 and a total vestal virgin. The only thing I have going for me in this story is that I lost my virginity to a woman.

3. Have you ever seriously vandalised someone else's property?

Nope. But I stole a traffic cone once. My father didn't speak to me for three days.

4. Have you ever hit someone of the opposite sex?

Yes! I was a bit of a bruiser kid, especially when it came to protecting my little brother.

5. Have you ever sung in front of a large number of people?

Yes, at a memorial service for a friend who had died.

6. What's the first thing you notice about the preferred sex?

Lately? The derierre.

7. What really turns you on?

If I shared that with you, I'm afraid your image of me as an innocent little geek would be destroyed. So...I'll leave this one alone. :)

8. What do you order at Starbucks?

9. What was your biggest mistake?

Joint checking with a lover. DON'T.DO.IT.

And not leaving GCG when I could have. That fucking job cost me my large intestine.

10. Have you ever hurt yourself on purpose?

Once. I understand that need. What a feeling of desperation that was.

11. Say something totally random about you:

I have favorite letters of the alphabet.

12. Has anyone ever said you looked like a celebrity?

When I was younger, people used to say I looked like Mariel Hemmingway, which was okay for me.

13. Do you still watch children's movies or TV shows?

Movies, yes. Not so much on the TV front.

14. Did you have braces?

Nope. For years dentists have been telling me how naturally 'perfect' my teeth were. For a while it was the only body part I actually liked on my whole body. (I've since added wrists, feet, eyes and smile.)

15. Are you comfortable with your height?

Now? Yes. Being taller than my third grade teacher while in the third grade? Not so much.

16. What is the most romantic thing someone of the opposite (or preferred) sex has done for you?

Strangely enough, this was a member of the opposite sex who was my best friend at the time and yes, he knew I was a lesbian.

He took me on a midnight picnic on my birthday (November 28th--so it was a bit chilly). As a picnic blanket, he had a medieval style tapestry. There was champagne and other foods (for some reason I can only remember the chocolate pudding) in the basket. And gifts, that he gave out at pre-arranged intervals. For the final gift, he told me to look up and I did. There was a total lunar eclipse that night and I hadn't even been paying attention. He timed it so that when I looked up, the shadow would be 90% across the lunar surface. He'd been planning this for weeks and had been hoping I wouldn't be paying attention to the news and therefore learn of the eclipse.

17. When do you know it's love?

I don't. I tend to rush things and then "love" disintigrates. I'm not sure I've ever actually been in love or been loved.

18. Do you speak any other languages?

None fluently at the moment but French, German, Spanish, Italian, Gaelic, Hebrew, Lakota, Klingon, and a little bit of Cherokee.

19. Have you ever been to a tanning salon?

Honey, I'm Irish and Dutch. A tanning salon would be a) moot and b) very very very painful.

20. What magazines do you read?

Curve and anything that happens to have Diane Neal in it.

21. Have you ever ridden in a limo?

Once at a wedding.

22. Has anyone you were really close to passed away?

My grandfather in 1988, my friend Alex in college, my grandmother last week.

23. Do you watch MTV?

Hell fucking no. Damned channel's been ruined.

24. What's something that really annoys you?

George W. Bush and this country's current administration.

25. What's something you really like?

26. Do you like Michael Jackson?

27. Can you dance?

No. I have no sense of rhythm. And yet I love Dance Hall music. It's a quandry.

28. What's the latest you have ever stayed up?

My first set of exams as a theatre major, I stayed up for 55 hours straight and then DROVE TO SCHOOL. Yes, I hallucinated and yes, I took my exams anyway. All A's.

29. Have you ever thought that you were honestly going to die?

Yes. For the surgery in June. During the first surgery, my surgeon said I required seven units of blood and that it was touch and go for me for a long time. So I was freaked about the second surgery. I made out a will and everything. I required five units of blood for the second surgery and yes, I almost died on the table, but my surgeon is the best and they kept me alive. :)

30. Do you actually read these when other people fill them out?

I do! How else am I to find out about my flist? :D

Could you please have your friend from college cloned and sent over to me... what a sweetheart.

The one with the lunar eclipse thing? Sorry, hon, I don't know where he is or what he's up to these days. He moved to NJ in '93 and we didn't keep in touch.

I think about him a lot, though. He was a sweetheart.

Just terribly asexual.

Darn, my pathetic attempt to find someone with even an ounce of romanticism has again ended in disaster. Ho Hum.

Romantic he was, yes, but like I said, completely asexual.

He once showed up at my house uninvited while I was having dinner with the most gorgeous amazing woman on campus and she ended up kissing him on his neck to try to get a rise out of him (or to make me jealous enough to actually DO something, I'll never know).

He just sat there, completely unmoving. Like a friggin' statue. So romance, yes. He had that. Anything else? Not so much.

Yeah, Klingon... LOL I was a Doctor Who fan first in all my fandoms, followed then by Star Trek. I own a yahoo group devoted entirely to the pairing of Seven of Nine and B'Elanna Torres. As a result, I have more than a working knowledge of Klingon (Tlingan Hol).

I have a cat named Kahless who responds to both English and Klingon commands.

Yes, I am a complete geek or nerd. One of those, anyway. ;)
