"I betchu was thinkin' 'Now why don't she write?'?"
Contrary to reports you may have heard, I am not dead, I have not been abducted by aliens, I did not join an anti-technology commune to become their Head Asparagus Farmer, and no, I was not adopted by Angelina Jolie.

But we should all be aware of that last one. You know. Just in case she's working off a master list or something.

This work thing has been most assuredly messing with--as Maria Bamford calls it--my sittin' around time.

But since I find myself with a few extra moments this morning because my mother went to work with the keys to the car I'm supposed to be using today in her POCKET, I thought I would do a little update.

Tonight, dear friends, after work I am going to see the most amazing thing. I am going to see Barbara Kingsolver LIVE at the Duke Chapel, speaking on her writing and her socio-eco-political writing prize that she funds every year. And I'm going to see her with fewthistle, no less!

It comes as probably no surprise that I believe Barbara Kingsolver and Anne Lamott to be two of the best writers of the 20th century and I have always wanted to meet/see live both of them.

After tonight it will be One Down, One to Go!

I'll be sure to tell you all about it...someday. LOL I know I'm really bad at updating right now.

In other news, three weeks from today I will be on a plane to Vegas to see Tiff. Finally. We got it all worked out and I CAN'T WAIT! :D

So there!

Well, I should probably go because my father should be driving up to the door any minute now with the car keys so that I can go park in a parking lot and then catch a bus to work. No, it doesn't make any sense. Just go with it.

Twoodles!

Barbara Kingsolver is a fiction and non-fiction writer. She's written several novels (including The Poisonwood Bible and Prodigal Summer, my two favorites thus far), several books of essays (both ecological and political), several non-fiction books (mostly accounts of migrant history, particularly in the Southwest), and several books of poetry. She could easily be considered the best American writer of the last 100 years (imho). She specializes in what she calls "socially responsible fiction" and her work is both lyrical and challenging to the reader. She has the ability to stop my breath with the simplest turn of a phrase and once you read her work, you feel changed somehow. Fundamentally. At your core.

Anne Lamott also writes fiction and non-fiction. Her novels are usually painfully real works featuring the nitty gritty of a woman's life, whether it be a woman dealing with the death of her father or a woman dealing with the chilling destruction of self. Her true gift lies in the non-fiction arena though. Her non-fiction is autobiographical in nature and either covers her writing techniques (Bird by Bird, a book I've read so many times and owned on so many different occasions that I've lost count of both), her pregnancy and the birth of her only child, Sam (Operating Instructions), and her tenuous and contentious relationship with her Christian faith (Traveling Mercies and Plan B: Other Thoughts on Faith--both which are like balm to me even though I do not consider myself particularly religious or Christian). She is laugh-out-loud funny, relentlessly honest, and beatifically flawed. She gives me hope that we are all normal, all redeemable and yet all Human.

Oh too funny, Froggumz and I were just wondering what happened to you lately :) Glad to hear you're okay, though it's a shame about not being adopted! Maybe the Limer and AJ had a chat, and the Limer said you were already spoken for. ;) Or something.

HPV vaccine
Hey Erin judt to cheer you up this vaccine is about to be released here in NZ, but wait theres more. Not only will it protect you from the age of 9 from HPV, if you already have a strain of HPV it will protect you from all the others and in either case prevent the HPV causing damage to the Cervix that causes cancer. Also apparently it will work for Guys.

Sorry Love

I've been missing your funny reviews and your random anecdotes about what's going on in your personal limer lounge. Brand new episode on tonight! You probably won't see this till after the fact, but I hope it reaches you.

By the way, on a random topic, the so-called "sex-scene" on conviction was extremely disappointing. Cabot looked like she had no idea on where to put her hands. Why, Dick Wolf, are you soiling your good name?
