Finished Book Number 2 in the Books Challenge!
Lessons in Becoming Myself by Ellen Burstyn

I thought by taking a night to sleep on this book once I finished it that I would coherently be able to discuss how wonderful this book is. Turns out that is not the case.

This book is the plain-spoken autobiography of a woman whose creative talent gives me chills of awe while her personal life and the strength she has cultivated through sheer will alone gives me hope for my own life.

The book appeals on so many levels. Are you interested in Hollywood history? You'll love this book. Are you interested in the creative process of actors and directors? You'll love this book. Are you a fan of stories documenting a strong woman's survival through terrible ordeals? You'll love this book. Are you interested in spirituality and self-reflection and world theologies? You'll love this book. Are you interested in love stories? You'll love this book.

It is all of these and more. It is truly a textbook example of "the sum is greater than its parts." I plan to read this book again. Often.

Please read it. You will not be disappointed. I promise.

I am reading another book and have been since the first of the year. It's Path of Daggers by Robert Jordan. That incredibly sexy and wonderful gf of mine? Yeah, she hooked me on the "Wheel of Time" series, too. Since I read about 2 pages of this book a day and there's over 700 pages in this book, it is entirely possible that I will not finish it in time to make it book #3 in the challenge.

So that leaves me with a question: which book do I start on next? The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama (who will one day be my president in the same exact way that W. isn't) or Open Me Carefully: Emily Dickinson's Intimate Letters to Susan Huntington Dickinson?

Oh, the choices, the choices...

In the mean time, I think I will finish watching "Shark", which has a terrible habit of underusing the beautiful Jeri Ryan. Criminally. Underusing.

Oh. And in other news? I found a non-stop flight to Vegas for less than $200. And my parents paid for it as a Christmas present (they put a handwritten coupon for a trip to Vegas in my stocking; very cute). So I am going to Vegas to see that incredibly sexy and wonderful gf of mine for the first week of March. For a late Valentine's Day celebration. So there! ;)

Twoodles.

Re: Guess who...
You are KIDDING me! That's FANTASTIC! Yes, of course! I will be there from 2/28 to 3/7. Which night would be easier for you; the 5th or the 6th? We'll do dinner! I can't wait to tell the ISAWGF!
